The anxiety of the result
Stories like Fatima’s, they say, number in the tens of thousands. Fatima is a fulfilled young woman in the prime of her life. She has a job she’s passionate about—she teaches children. Society owes her all the good she brings to the little ones, beyond just her salary. But then she notices a lump under her armpit. Anxiety now lives within her, to the point that she tries to see her doctor, but the pandemic prolongs the wait for an appointment. She finally sees Stéphane, a dedicated and empathetic doctor. He listens and prescribes a radiological exam—but there too, the wait is long. Her journey to put an end to the anxiety begins here. After months of waiting, she finally gets access to the exam—collateral victim of COVID. She is welcomed with care, of course. Jeanne knows why people come to her, and as a woman, she has the sensitivity. Fatima takes a seat in that cold and impersonal waiting room. Lucie, the technologist, comes to get her and performs the exam; here again, Lucie takes great care of Fatima, as the exam is rather unpleasant. At the end, she is kindly sent off and told that her doctor will call her when he has the exam report in hand. It’s hard to calm this anxiety when you don’t know what’s going to happen. All the people she met know the importance and value of Fatima—they showed her. But what happens while she waits for Stéphane’s call? Her prescription has entered a process that will turn it into a radiology report delivered to Stéphane. It will pass through the hands of Lucie, of Magali the radiologist, of Christiane the secretary, of Viki for sending. Finally, back to Stéphane, she’ll be able to find out what this lump is. Fatima has already waited a long time. The production must be efficient and rigorous. No one wants mistakes—especially not lost or forgotten reports. Stéphane has many patients, and it’s not certain that a delay would even be noticed if a report went missing.
This process is guided by a common thread that ensures efficiency and safety—it’s the Postscriptum software suite.
